SOUTH WARWICKSHIRE TOURISM APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE

South Warwickshire Tourism (SWT) has announced the appointment of Phil Hackett as the new Chief Executive. Phil takes over from Malcolm Connor who took on the role of Interim Director for the last ten months whilst a Chief Executive was appointed.

Phil has over sixteen years’ experience of working within the tourism sector. He was previously employed as Visitor Operations Director for English Heritage and has been responsible for the West Midlands, the East Midlands and the East of England. Phil was responsible for creating and implementing national strategies, the delivery of visitor services, the management of multiple site operations and tourism aspects of the historic visitor attractions within his area.

Prior to English Heritage Phil worked as Operations Manager of New Walk Museum and Art Gallery for Leicester City Council and then as General Manager of Wollaton Hall and Park for Nottingham City Council. Phil brings with him first hand experience of working for both local authorities and visitor attractions.

Nicolas Walsh, Chairman of SWT stated “We are delighted to welcome Phil to SWT and the
team. Phil has extensive experience and knowledge of our industry and will be a valuable
asset to our organisation, our members, stakeholders and visitors to South Warwickshire.”.
Phil says that he has very fond memories of working in South Warwickshire from his time at English Heritage. “Being offered the opportunity to come back and work for SWT, strengthening what is a world-renowned and internationally significant visitor destination is both personally and professionally rewarding”.
